We are privileged with our geographic location to be within Ireland’s hidden heartland, with so many attractions to see and things to do within a short drive from our Glamping park. Scratching the surface, you will find that the area is abundant with natural rural beauty and steeped in ancient Irish history.

Coleman’s traditional Irish music center, Gurteen (15 mins)
Colemans Irish music visitor centre is open to the public all year round and offers an interactive exhibition on the history of traditional Irish music. The Colemans school of music operates out of here teaching children and adults tradition Irish instruments and dance. The theatre hosts concerts and event throughout the year.


Urlaur Abbey, Kilkelly (15 mins)
On the shores of Urlaur Lake lies a monastic settlement founded in 1430 by the Dominicans. It is now a ruin, but it has been remarkably well preserved. A wonderful place to visit for those who fancy taking a walk close to some ancient ruins or just a stroll through some natural beauty.
Eagles flying, Ballymote (30 mins)
Eagles flying is an interactive birds of prey show, featuring eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures and owls. Come rain or shine they have 2 shows per day. It is situated on 24 acres of land and also has a petting farm where you can meet some lambs, goats, pigs and lots more. Open 7 days a week from April through to October.


King House, Boyle (25 mins)
A near 3 century old restored Georgian mansion which operates as a museum, housing a number of fascinating collections of local historical significance and is also home to the Boyle civic arts collection. The mansion also regularly hosts many arts and cultural events and is a key part of the annual Boyle arts festival. The house is open to visitors Tuesdays – Sundays from April to September and admission is very reasonable at €10 for adults and €7 for children with discounts for large groups / families.
Caves of keash and carrowkeel passage tombs, Ballymote (30 mins)
The Caves of Keash visiteor centre in Ballymote is full of information about both the recorded history and the myths and legends associated with both the caves and the tombs. From there, visitors may visit either, and experience for themselves a true glimpse of the past, immersed in the history of medieval times and beyond. The visitor centre is open all year round.


Petting Farms (30 mins)
Graune Pet Farm (30 mins away) and Glendeer Pet Farm (1 hour away but worth the trip) are 2 petting farms we can recommend. There is also a small petting farm at Eagles Flying (see above).

Lough key forest park, Boyle (30 mins)
A park which boasts extensive woodlands, with walking trails, a tree canopy walk, and an intriguing history, being the place of residence of the powerful medieval McDermott family for centuries. The visitor centre and café are open 7 days per week during the summer with limited opening hours at other times of the year.
Rathcroghan visitor centre, Tulsk (30 mins)
The Rathcroghan complex is a vast area of historical significance featuring literally hundreds of archeological sites. The area was also connachts pre-historic capital and the home of the warrior queen Mebh. The visitor centre has been named a Tripadvisor centre of excellence each year from 2014 – 2018, and is a fantastic resource from which to gain an insight into the celtic history of the area and the associated myths and legends. The visitor centre is open all year round.


Museum of country life, Castlebar (40 mins)
Part of the National Museum of Ireland, the museum of country life is a look into the not so distant past at how life was in rural Ireland. Visitors can learn about the folk lore, traditions, crafts and ways of the land through exhibitions and activities, with plenty to keep the little ones occupied also. Open all year round.
